Newhall Bicycle Company was an idea that Roger had more than a decade ago. Opening a bike shop was something that he and his friends have passed around for a long time. When Roger had knee surgery back in 1989, the physical therapist told him to get on a bike…from there the hobby of riding turned into a passion and a lifestyle. Roger and Shannon were married in 1995 and since then have been blessed with 3 wonderful children; Elijah 10 ½, Caleb 8 ½, and Abigail 3 ½. They are proud to live in the Newhall area, and send the kids to Peachland Elementary Shannon works part-time for the City of Santa Clarita, is busy with the kids, plans events for the bike shop and amongst other things has started participating in mini-triathlons. Trainings include riding her Torelli to and from work and running when ever possible, sometimes up to 5 times a week. “I have never felt better in my life. Even though I am a very busy mom, taking care of myself and doing this for me is definitely a priority”.
Roger has taken his passion of cycling and turned it into a way of life for himself. He is a very devoted father and husband, but also business owner and friend. Roger leads rides 3 times a week and knows that by doing so; others will share their passion as well. Roger wanted to create a friendly, comfortable shop for riders of all strengths, from beginners to experts. “I am constantly busy at the shop, but enjoy spending time with the customers, answering questions they might have about their bike, and helping them understand that a bike should feel comfortable and ride good at the same time”.
Roger and Shannon also feel that being business owners in the community means getting involved with their community. They do this by providing a Thanksgiving Feast for the needy on Thanksgiving Day, working with single Mothers Outreach on Christmas, and having a pancake breakfast on Easter. “Being able to give back to our community will always be a priority for us, both as a family and as a business”.
